Here's the trunk I cut out of my original Buick.
This was one of the first things I repaired on the original car. The first body
was too far gone to save but I did save the panels I made for the trunk and I'm using
them on this body.

Cut the floor panel out.
|
It's not going in as planned. I was hoping to
lay the panel on top and trace around it to mark what parts had to be cut out.
|
Cut out the rust first, then weld it in from
bottom.
|
For projects like this it nice to have a
plasma cutter. Makes pretty quick work of the rusty metal.
|
Test fit the floor panel from the bottom.
|
I found the inner fender on the passenger side
was Swiss cheese and someone did a hack job removing the tunnel for the gas tank
filler tube.
|
Made a new panel. I think it turned out really
nice. I used an old tire iron, BFH, piece of 1" pipe, body hammer and bench vise
to form the beads.
|
Cut out the entire rear pan and tool as one piece.
|
Old and "new" rear panel and tool tray. I was
able to weld in the entire set up as one piece.
|
"New" pan and tool tray tacked in.
