In the beginning

This page has pictures of my 1937 Buick Special.

Here's the trunk I cut out of my original Buick. This was one of the first things I repaired on the original car. The first body was too far gone to save but I did save the panels I made for the trunk and I'm using them on this body.

Cut the floor panel out.

It's not going in as planned. I was hoping to lay the panel on top and trace around it to mark what parts had to be cut out.

Cut out the rust first, then weld it in from bottom.

For projects like this it nice to have a plasma cutter. Makes pretty quick work of the rusty metal.

Test fit the floor panel from the bottom.

I found the inner fender on the passenger side was Swiss cheese and someone did a hack job removing the tunnel for the gas tank filler tube.

Made a new panel. I think it turned out really nice. I used an old tire iron, BFH, piece of 1" pipe, body hammer and bench vise to form the beads.

Floor panel tack welded from the bottom.

The rear pan and tool tray are trashed.

Cut out the entire rear pan and tool as one piece.

Old and "new" rear panel and tool tray. I was able to weld in the entire set up as one piece.

"New" pan and tool tray tacked in.
